Toussaint "Black Gold" Now Available

I Grade Records and Zojak Worldwide are pleased to introduce Black Gold, the debut solo album by Toussaint. Most well known as the former lead singer of the Stax Records and Blue Note recording group Soulive, Toussaint is poised to bring forth his unforgettable blend of soul and roots to the world. The musical arrangements on Black Gold were largely crafted by the Zion I Kings production team, consisting of Laurent "Tippy I" Alfred (I Grade Records), Jah David (Zion High Productions), and Digital Ancient (Lustre Kings Productions). Alongside these accomplished producers is an all-star cast of musicians including Dean Pond, Tuff Lion, Santa Davis, Jawge Hughes, Youssoupha Sidibe, Johnny Trama, Eli Winderman and Padraic Coursey. The 15 tracks on Black Gold are a musical crossroads: the intersection of the soulful, timely histories of North America, the Caribbean and Africa and the epic personal story of Toussaint 'The Liberator."

Recorded for the most part in St. Croix at Aqua Sounds Studio and mixed by Laurent "Tippy I" Alfred, Black Gold is a magnetic, complete album for soul, roots and world music lovers. At the crossroads of a brand new world, one in which we are challenged to reconcile our quest for modernity with a grounding in cultural foundation, Toussaint's Black Gold answers the question of how to connect these seemingly disparate communities by bringing the soul back to the roots.

Born Delmark St. Aubyn Spence Jr., in Kingston Jamaica, Delus had a growing passion to fulfill a musical career. Growing up with his father Delmark Spence Sr., his mother Winsome Spence and younger brother Garfield Spence ("Konshens") he discovered his love for music as his mother's weekend ritual was to play music loudly while cleaning.

Delus's first recording was with his brother, Konshens. The duo recorded under the name Sojah which means "Sons of Jah." Their first single entitled "Medz Pon Di Corner" on the Cash Flow label, went number one in Japan in 2004, which afforded them the opportunity to tour in Japan. The tour prompted the release of the duos debut album titled "Sons of Jah." Songs recorded by Sojah included "Mi Mada" and "Segregation" on Cash Flow Label; "Cyaan Draw Wi Out" on the In The Streets Label; "Real Love" on the Vertex Label; "Ratata" on the Open Ear Label.

The My Reality EP features 4 songs that showcase Delus' versatility as an artist. Fans can expect great things from this entertainer as he constantly rises in the music business.

Included is 4 cd's worth of classic Wailers material, ranging from early Studio One material all the way to more modern work like Music Lesson from the Never Ending Wailers album. Also included is a 3-disc set of Bunny Wailer, the last remaining member of the legendary Wailers, relating the group's amazing history in detail. The digital booklet that comes with the release contains 60 pages of rare photographs and insights into the history of the band, their community, friends and associates.
